Different to the first part of the Step Up series of three movies, I was positively surprised about this second part. Not that I would recommend anyone to see it but let me start with some impressions first.
The movie starts with an oral introduction of a girl, who looses her family at a young age. After that the scene is switching to a subway, where an old man looks frightened when a black guy enteres one of the wagons. What follows is one of the strongest scenes of the movies regarding tension. After that it is basically the same story of the first part but this time the main and struggling character is the girl. The character Troy from the first part makes a strange and unnecessary appearance in the beginning and is luckily never seen again.
What makes this part more interesting are the supporting roles. Their different and unconventional characters are well placed and bring fun into the movie. Of cause, there is a male main character and the head of school. Non the less, the music is good but not better than last time, the actors are maybe a little better, the dance is definitive better and therefore the overall is also better.
