There is an exhibition about the terracotta army of the First Emperor of China in Sydney. I heard a lot about the army and that it is one of the must-see of our days.
So, I went there and I can tell you, even the style of the exhibition was not so much my type, it was great.
What can I say about it? Well, on the one hand I was surprised that there were a lot more pieces of ancient China than I thought. I thought the exhibition would be more about the worriers, but in the end there were only about 10 of them in one of the last rooms. The first three rooms had a lot of the just mentioned pieces from that age. They were not uninteresting but I missed a lot the connection between them and the worriers and the emperor. Seeing them, was kind of disconnected to the army. There were quiet some writings – very interesting ones – but I would have liked to have more information about where these artifacts were found. Also, I would have liked more information about the time back than.
Very impressive were the terracotta warriors. They were all different looking and very detailed. Imagine them colored….
Anyway, if you have the opportunity to see this exhibition or a similar one in your country, go there. It is worth it!
On the way back with the bike, it started to rain badly. What to do else than to stop at a pub and have a beer. After 45 minutes I continued, rain still dropping, and ran into traffic jam and crowds of people. At Anzac Prd., waiting for the redlight to turn green, I saw some people wearing Bon Jovi shirts. Than I realized – or better understood – where the music was coming from the last two days. He had a three days concert.
So, two ancient people where in town these days 😉
